Turkey occupies a distinguished geographical location at the crossroads of the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Middle East and the eastern Mediterranean, as it is considered a bridge and a barrier between the continent of Europe and Asia, where the largest part of it is located in the continent of Asia. Turkey has a land area of about 769,632 square kilometers, and of water with an area of about 13,930 square kilometers, thus bringing its total area to about 783,562 square kilometers.

It separates Asian Turkey from the European Bosphorus Bridge and the Sea of Marmara, and the Asian part consists mostly of highlands and mountains, in addition to some low lands that are located on the coasts of the Aegean and Marmara countries, and on several other Turkish rivers, thus the Asian part forms about 97% of the country.

Turkey shares its borders with 8 countries: Georgia and Armenia to the northeast, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east, Iraq and Syria to the southeast, Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest, and its maritime borders are located on the Black Sea to the north, and the Mediterranean And the Aegean Sea from the southwest and west.

According to the statistics of 2019, the population of Turkey is 82,926,767 people, as the country’s population constitutes 1.08% of the total population of the world, and it ranks No. 17 according to the population, and its population density is 108 people per square kilometer.
